Greene County Operations Center
Springfield, MO
The new operations center at Greene County was built to relocate and combine the maintenance department, printing operations, and the campus warehouse into one facility on the north end of the county-owned property. A pre-engineered metal building was selected for the main structure since the warehouse component made up the majority of the floor area. One of the design challenges with this facility was articulating the exterior of the building in a way that related to other campus facilities while detailing around the limitations of a pre-engineered building. The solution was to incorporate Phenix Stone as a cladding material around the office portion of the building since this material was
initially used on the historic courthouse. The use of this material gives the building a richness that is not typical with this building type. Other materials used on the exterior design include metal and translucent panels that help to naturally light the interior of the facility. The office entrance is marked with a blue canopy that relates to blue metal panel
accents used at the Public Safety Center and the color of the county campus signage.
