Audrain County Justice Facility
To facilitate the planning and design of this project, three client-driven priorities were established; improved separation by classification, additional holding cells, and enhancement of security electronics. An addition to the east consists of a 32-bed expansion with two new American Correctional Association (ACA) compliant pods. The south addition includes a new vehicle sally port and drive, as well as an expanded booking and intake area to house additional holding cells and gender-classified bullpens. Renovations to the existing facility include replacement and expansion of security electronics, energy efficient lighting, updates to existing pods for Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) compliance, as well as the expansion and relocation of central control. The jail and associated sheriff’s office remained fully occupied and operational throughout construction.
