Bates County Jail Expansion
The existing site for the Bates County jail is constrained on three of four sides, creating a unique design challenge when designing for a new jail addition. The first addition includes an expanded holding area and drive-through sally port running parallel to the existing service alley. The second addition includes American Correctional Association (ACA) compliant dormitory-style pods with 64 total beds and a new, concealed outdoor recreation area. The added pods are accessed through the existing jail and new security electronics are integrated into the existing security electronics system. The jail and associated spaces remained fully occupied and operations throughout construction.
