South Central Child Advocacy Center
West Plains, MO
This facility’s character embodies the mission of the Child Advocacy Center; to serve the needs of abused and neglected children in South Central Missouri. Renovations to the existing 5,000 sf building include spaces for forensic interviews, medical examinations, multi-disciplinary coordination, and advocacy to children and families in a confidential manner. Special consideration was given to sound transference between rooms where digital recording of evidence is performed. Ballistics glazing and remote access were incorporated for safety and security measures at points of entry. Renovations to the exterior of the building include the addition of two covered entries, residential accents, and whimsical landscaping to create a more welcoming appearance for children visiting the facility. Also, in-line with the theme of a child-friendly facility, the interior of the building hosts an array of murals, bright color palettes and inlaid kites at the flooring for children to follow when walking back to the exam rooms.
This project was funded with State of Missouri NAP credits.
